Cherished Number Plates
A cherished number plate is often classed as dateless (no age identifier) registration plate. These dateless car registrations can be assigned to any vehicle, regardless of age and fetch large sums of money when they are for sale. An example of a cherished number is 62 PR or NCL 1.
Generally speaking, the fewer letters and numbers in cherished number plates, the higher the price will be. A registration plate with the number 1 will increase the price even more. A1, the first and original number plate to be issued would probably fetch a cool £1 million...if it was ever for sale.
Some of the more famous cherished plates have fetched massive sums of money. The most expensive cherished number plate/car registration sold to date was registration plate M1. It was the first car registration to be issued by Cheshire council all the way back in 1903 and recently sold for a staggering £331 000! This cherished car number was sold at auction on behalf of the National Trust, who acquired the registration with Tatton Park when it was donated to them during the 1960's. The proceeds from the sale of the cherished number plates are being used by the National Trust for on going projects.
In more recent times the term 'cherished' number has started to be used to include private registrations from the prefix and current style range of car registrations. Cape Plates offer unrivalled access to millions of these plates and are confident we can find your very own cherished number.
